Yamaha Serial number

Hi I have the sticker missing with the serial number off the transom bracket for a 50hp Yamaha but have a number on a disc behind the carbs. Is this the Engine serial number: 892 824 955.C? which is around the edge of a disc the size of a 10p piece, in the middle is the letter B over A? Can you tell the year from this number?

On top of the engine and stamped into the casting as opposed to cast in are the numbers: 8349 and 8336 2

Cheers

No it's none of them.

On the top rear of the powerhead will be a small circular sticker, about the size of a 5p coin. This is black top/bottom with a white block in the middle. The number will be 6 digits long. Numbers only.

The others are part numbers.

Okay and if that sticker is missing is there no way of finding the serial number?
Thanks

If the transom stickers are missing AND the powerhead sticker you would need to ask yourself why that is ? It's highly unlikely both stickers on the transom (port/starboard - above the waterline) and the third powerhead sticker would "fall" off.

FYI , I've a stolen/recovered F115 here with both transom stickers removed - but even on that the powerhead sticker is still present as not everybody knows what it is or where it is.

Do you know it's history ?

Okay I'm not exactly sure where the powerhead sticker is but the engine is on a rib and from the same year and has the original clocks etc. Somebody wanted to tart it up a bit and sprayed the engine and have removed decals and stickers in the process. I can't believe the number isn't stamped into the block somewhere? Can you tell me exactly where the sticker is or is it quite obvious..? Thanks

Near the lifting eye close to the thermostat housing - you may need to remove the plastic flywheel cover

Here's a pic. Just to the right/top of the thermostat you can see where the round sticker would have been.

Well, you could ask the police to datatag scan it, or have a good look for the little red microdot indicators.

I take it all the numbers are on the boat itself?

Good idea but you may have a job explaining where all the serial numbers have gone, and/or how you got it if they find something you don't want them too

If they have all gone I'd treat it as hot ! If there is still the one on the head search for it on stolenboats website then see if someone here can look for it on a database of some kind. If it shows as hot start thinking about what you will do.

I thnk these was a thread on someone being chased for owning a stolen rig ....not sure where that ended up .
