Thanks for that, Pete. I am now totally confused. It seems my choices are...

1 Yanmar 300 and B3X leg

2 Yamaha 240 and Yamaha leg

3 Yamaha 225 4-stroke - Qty 2

4 Yamaha 165 with Yamaha leg - Qty 2

5 Some sort of Volvo

I'm going to have to sit down with a pencil and many pieces of paper and look at all the pros and cons.

The frustrating thing is that it has become complicated because I simply do not have the knowledge or experience. Some have said I should just get rid of the boat and start again. But I like what I've got and it was cheapish.

Any pointers on the Volvo front would be appreciated. Alan Priddy also mentioned Volvo at some stage when I asked him what would be his perfect combo a while back...

Cheers...

Hi Pete

The choice is not totaly down to technical issues.
I am looking at a good deal with Ribcraft & the Yanmar/Bravo 3.
This however is still yet to be confirmed, but could save me a lot of money.

Also Ribcraft says the Yamnar/Bravo 3x is a good combination for the 7.8.
I have no problem with Yamaha and if the deal with the Yanmar does not come off I will look at it, as at present after the Yamnar its the KAD32DP, which is less power.

Things should be finalised this week hopefully, after which I should be able to give you more details

Regards Gary

Hi Guys

Sorry to join in this topic so late! But what leg does Spirit have? In my limited opinion this should be a reasonable test for leg & engine???

and

You could even offer Alan Priddy some £'s for his engine and leg, that way he may be able to make it home.

Jahno

Spirit has the regular Yamaha hydrodrive leg, which is standard with both the Yamaha diesel sterndives (165hp and 240hp).
