Yanmar diesel - kill-switch options

About to get back into Ribs and looking to purchase something with inboard power - my better half asked 'will it have a kill cord' - I had to say i had absolutely no idea. Looking at the Yanmar engine in question i can see that the engine-stop system is simply a button that activates a solenoid in the engine bay that stops the fuel pump running. So as I get pinged out of teh boat my only option is to somehow remember to punch a small 10mm button? How then do I get the same level of safety here as I would have done on my last outboard boat? There are I am sure plenty of diesel ribs out there - what are people using?

You can fit a kill switch rather than just a stop switch. Just make sure you get the right type (normally open or normally closed) to suit the particular wiring on the fuel pump.

My Yanmar 6LP has the standard kill cord switch with leg lanyard wired in to the pump solenoid.

Sadly not working at the moment since the fuel pump rebuild, but that's another matter!
