Yanmar Parts

Hi folks

Well its first service time for my engine, so I started looking round for parts.

To my supprise most Yanmar agents didnt even know the model, appears that most are only set uo for smaller yacht engines, 1GM's, 2GM's etc.

The only place I found I thought was expensive (well as I had nothing to compare it to anyway at over 120 quid for oil, fuel filter & impellar with VAT & P&P on).

So does anyone know a good/low cost place for Yanmar spares either north west based or if not mail order..

My engine is a Yanmar 4LHAM-STZP, 240HP 4 cyl.

Well, go to an agricultural supplier for your oil. The latest spec. to ask for is API CH4. It's used in modern combineharvesters etc. Bought 20lt drum last week for £42 inc. vat. Nowhere else I tried had the high spec, not even the big motor factors. However, the motor factor will be able to supply oil filters. £2.80 each for the KAD 300. A spare impeller at the local chandlers, £14.95.

Take your old filter with you and be nice to them. Don't go when they are busy or closing etc. My factors have a computer progam from Crossland filters and most everything was listed and cross-referenced.

You Yanmar boys should stick together - IIRC Mike Garside did an order form the States for his 300 - get together and save on the carriage?
