Yours thoughts
Hi all
What's your thoughts on this engine.
I know nothing about obm's
But I'm guessing it's a old one with the squarish top.
Paint work needs sorting
But what about the internals & compression
Cheers
Phil

I know very little about invisible engines, but at least it will be difficult to steal.

I know nothing of that model but... At that price with those recent service parts if it starts OK, runs well and pumps water given the stupid market this year I'd jump at it.

Looks like a good deal, bit silly putting the other plug back in to do a compression test though, makes it harder to pull over

Ok so when I do compression test take out both plugs connect to one cylinder at a time and pull it over. Is that right. Looking for 90 plus ??

Yep, and throttle wide open when you do it

Few extra random thoughts...
I'm guessing mid 80s to early 90s. Have you asked re the listing as a 15hp and old cowl sticker as a 20hp? As far as I know at that time the 9.9/15 were broadly the same model as were the 20/25hp models.
But be wary if there was a model unknown to me where 15/20 were the same motors as it could be heavy.
Paint easily sorted. I'd take a bit of the motor from under the cowl with original paint such as the stat housing or a painted bracket and get the best match in car paint from Halfords. Decals available on Ebay.

Thanks Fenlander, sellers says its a 20hp and between 40kg - 50 kg. I will lift it tomorrow night to see if it is manageable, with thoughts of dragging on the back of the SIB up and down beaches.
