4 bolts on the leg, whats inside?

I have asked this on e-tec owners, but I am sure I will get the right answer, quicker on here..

I have a 175 e-tec and did the impeller and gear oil over the weekend - upon starting her up in a bucket I noticed water coming out of the starboard side from the box with the 4 bolts on? what is this? it was a steady flow but not masses - I cant remember if I have noticed this before or not - but either way just want to be sure.

On the plus side, running it for 20 mins and I didn't get an over heat alarm like before, and the pressure on the water seemed a lot better - but guessing as the old impeller had serious memory and could spin in the casing without any resistance that wouldn't of helped.

my guess, thats the cover for the lower engine mounts, and the water you are seeing is for cooling the exhaust and youve just missed it before. was the water pump itself ok? - had to replace one of mine once as it was badly scored and would have very quickly ruined a new impeller.

The box on the side is an engine mounting cover. Not sure why you'd have water coming out of it-there shouldn't be anything that carries water in there.

I asked the same question it's normal. The cover is the lower engine mount & the mounts are watercooled. No panic

Festinghouse - yeah changed the plate. It was scored through from the old impeller, not far off going all the way through at some points.

Guess I didn't notice it before as the pressure was so bad.
