Admiralty iCharts for iPad/iPhone

Am I missing something or are these a complete con?

It costs £40 per area, for instance Channel Islands covers just the main islands, you don't get most of the French coast etc. It's 14 different charts but like the paper versions, many are just small scale bits of the larger maps. What's the point of that in what should be a vector chart?

With the Navionics app you can have most of northern bloody Europe for the same money!

Memory Map does the whole UK "Admaralty charts" for the iphone for about the same price.

Including the channel Islands , But Not France.

I paid £46 in postage for mine.

Its Ideal for people who are just migrating from Paper to electronic charts.

Memory-Map : Maps UK : At Sea - Marine Charts

Navionics are good , I have Navionics on my Chartplotter Combo , but I cannot use them on my PC.

RIBase
Yep I have used Memory Maps for the last six months and find them first class for the purpose. I also use 'Visit my harbour' for PC downloads well worth a look at £25 for the year.

I use "Navionics HD" covering the UK & Holland on the iPad - seems to cover everywhere in huge detail for about £35.

I use the Navionics HD on my iPad, you can now sync it with the latest Raymarine gear so you can in theory do all your chart work on the sofa, then just wifi the waypoints etc across to your plotter when you head down to the boat. Pretty cool.

I think you can also sync all your data from the GPS to the ipad as well now, so you can go home with a record of your journey, fuel used etc
