Any iPhone 3G users

Has anyone tried iNavX and Navionics X-traverse maps on the iPhone?

I just downloaded it and it looks really good at a reasonable price, the app was $29 and so were the UK&IE 28XG charts. The features are really good, some better than the fixed Lowrance unit I have with the same maps (which cost considerably more!). The waypoints and route planning work really well and much faster to use than a fixed GPS.

It will also give you live tide predictions for your location if you download an App called Ayetides for £5.99

The software is marketed and disclaimed as an aid to a fixed GPS (which in itself is an aid to navigation). So I guess I now have an aid to an aid to navigation!

Now all I need to do is find away of mounting my iPhone and keeping it dry, without it flying into the sea.

I use one of these things for my BlackBerry. The trick is to find one with a clear front. Mine is clear, but has various structural bits running through the front, so it's hard to read. I can at least tell if I have received an email or something...

As for mounting it, well I don't. Since your iPhone is only a backup, it might not be worth it...

Like everything else I have on my RIB, if I dont attach it to something or put it away, it's going to end up in the sea!
I found a solution at www.h20audio.co.uk - they have a waterproof wriststrap or a diving case for iPods or iPhones. Not cheap, but a lot cheaper than replacing a wet phone.
