Anyone bought a new Navonics Gold chart recently?

Reason I ask is I was perusing their website, and discovered they npw do the "coverage" graphcs as a zoomable map rather than the old PDF method of yore.

Now, there have been many threads in the past about inland waterways and the lack of electronic charting thereof. When zooming in to see if Lomond was covered, I was pleasantly surprised to find it was - along with the Forth & Clyde, Caley & Crinan Canals.

Only thing was the detail shown on Lomond consisted of half a dozen pontoons, no deopths and the islands being somewhat "blocky".

Now, I can see why they might not want all their new IP out there to be screen-grabbable in full HD, so has anyone bought a new Navonics gold card that they could scroll / zoom to Lomond (& / or any of the canals) to report back on the level of detail?

If the detail is there I might be tempted to upgrade rather than having to use a home made "waypoint map" on my old handheld Garmin to fill in the gaps between where the plotter detail starts & stops, but won't be upgrading if the detail shown on the web is all that you get on the new SD card!

Compare that to the detail they have for the Erne System in NI

Yep! That;s why I asked - I guess either there are different surveys (& therefore IP agreements), or they just haven't got round to Lomond et al yet.

My Card is only about 3 months old and I've downloaded all of the latest updates and it still doesn't show any depth contours on Lomond, only what you can see online.

Looks like you can save your ££'s.
Hope this helps.

Cheers
Rob
