Sorry to drag up and old thread.
I'm considering a 7" dragonfly. How are they performing for you chaps?

My friend works for Raymarine so i can get one on his staff discount

Considered it but thought the mount was very wobbly for use on a Rib. Went for lowrance instead

I got the Raymarine A68 with silver charts from the LBS, and it came with the same transducer as the Dragonfly (the transducer is 8" but seems quite robust too).

The downvision view has impressed me with its clarity - I even picked out a shopping trolley near the Havant foreshore when I ventured over that way! The transducer gives a clear picture at speed too (although I only had it up to 20ish knots, and the speed versus picture issue will be affected by where it's mounted on different boats) so overall I'm more than impressed.

The plotter itself is clearly viewed in sunlight, and even with polarised sunglasses on. The mount for it is fine, it's robust enough to hold the plotter without too much vibration at speed, and seems sturdy enough to hold it in position if knocked - but I don't know if it's the same as that which comes with the Dragonfly.

Does anyone find the 5.7" screen too small to simultaneously display charts and the sounder image?

Does anyone have the 7" screen version?

Mine is the smaller screen and I find it fine. Depends how you use it really.

For pure navigation I'd use the single screen on chart, for pure "bottom searches" I'd be on sonar only and for pootling around saying "ooh look what we're going over" I have it on split screen. (My two young boys love that one). I also have it set so that sonar and down vision share the sonar half of the display so there can actually be 3 things on display. All work well for me.

I've just checked and the Dragonfly mounting bracket is definitely different to my A68's. So I can't comment on that, but the operation etc is the same so my comments still stand.

I hope they help!

I've had one for a season and like it. Very easy to use and switch between views via a couple of buttons. Love the ability to mark a waypoint via the sonar and DS views. The single connection on the back means there are no unused connections to rust up. The screen is excellent and easily viewed even with sunglasses.
But that SD card slot is way too flimsy and definitely not IPX6! Also only one slot so no option to Sonar log.

But I really like the look of the 7" version.
I think people do need to be realistic on what you get for £600 though. The CHIRP sonar is often seen as 'CHIRP Light' when compared to other more expensive options. And the sounder is often criticised for note showing up fish as well as other standard sonars. But it is certainly good enough for what I use it for.
The new Garmin units look good but very expensive if you want the CHIRP transducer.
