Battery problem
Need some confirmation from my peers!!?
I have just taken my 2 ( 2 year old)Energy Squadron marine SLF 120 's home for winter, they were both down as I had had a problem with engine. One of them has been recgharge ok but the other is not charging although the halfords charger I use says it is but it never finished and is becoming hot on the sdes and buzzing. If it wasn't SLF I would suggest the cells were dry and it was frying. There are no obviuos leaks and terimals are fine.
Anybody any suggestions??
Cheers
B

If your battery has been completely flat then you'll struggle to recharge it. What voltage were they when you removed them?

Sounds like its cream crackered to me.
As I've said before I use a pair of Halfords 110AH car batteries, and despite long periods of non-use they are both fine after 3 years constantly connected to the system.
The one I had in my old Flatacraft would go unused from November through to April left in the boat and would remain almost fully charged.
Nasher.

I had a sfl 120ah that was a couple of years old and had sulphated plates due to being discharged for a long time. Squadron replaced it FOC which I would say was fantastic service seeing they only offer 1 year garrantees for that model.

I think I will contact the engineering firm that fitted them as part of a complete overhall of the electrics.
Cheers

Certainly the best place to start. If they do discover a prob with the battery and won't replace it themselves then ask em to send it back to Squadron.

And make a point about the other battery holding its charge fine and that you have been very pleased with them until now.
