battery terminals Help

Hi
took the battery off my old avon searider last winter just gone to put it back on, but not sure which is the correct way both battery wires are Black!! one has a clamp with an N on it but not convinced !! is there an easy way to double check which is neutral & live the motor is merc 50 approx 1998

Yep. Put a multimeter between the lead and the casing. When you get continuity, thats the negative.
