Broadsword calling Dannyboy! (VHF Course - NE Scotland)

Hi folks

Are there any NE Scotland RIB.net members who want to complete their VHF licence this year?

I'm planning to complete the VHF course. After 20+ years of being around inflatable boats, it's about time I got myself a VHF licence, instead of relying solely on good fortune, a degree of luck and a knowledge of 2-strokes to keep me out of trouble.

After a little bit of research, I've contacted Banff & Buchan college who run the course (subject to numbers). Now here's the thing. After speaking to the lecturer at the nautical college, it can only proceed if there are sufficient numbers. Ideally 6 people. Myself and another RIBnet member based in Aberdeen have expressed an interest in doing the course, sharing fuel costs to travel to Banff, etc. The lecturer said he already has a couple of people interested, which means we're still two short.

The lecturer wants to run the course over two evenings, over two weeks (as there is literature to read) prior to sitting the short examination. Costs from memory are around £100-£120 per person + VHF licence fee.

Are there any members out there (from NE Scotland) who want to do the course? If you PM your details (we're hoping for something sometime in the spring) I'll liaise with the college to confirm possible dates, etc.

Cheers

I have at least 3 people interested in the VHF course in Tayside. If it was getting run a bit closer we would be interested, or if it was done over 1 day at the weekend.

I know this is not exactly what you were asking but it gives you options.
