Chart card

Hi folks I’ve a Lowrance LCX-20 gps and am looking to get a charts card for it which will cover the north coast and Donegal areas.

I’m not really up to speed with these things, is there any additional info I need to be able to buy the above and where would I get them?

Alternatively can anyone recommend a gps enabled tablet that I could download the ‘visitmyharbour’ charts or similar to?

Thanks

Gavin

  • I don't know your kit - but a quick google suggests it uses MMC or SD cards? IIWY I would download a manual and double check.
  • Your device is compatible with Navionics Charts. The Gold charts are probably as top end as your device will be compatible with (and I'd be checking that too!).
  • I bought a chart from this lad recently. He's dodgy in some way IMO, but he delivered a fully operational gold chart. Linky
That's a full UK & Ireland chart - everything and more you might ever need.

You’re spot on btw, it can use either a MMC or a SD card.
Haven’t found a reference to gold charts yet though .

I'm seeing some chatter about those units only accepting cards up to 2Gb. Tricky as all charts now ship on larger chips. Maybe worth contacting Lowrance UK or a professional supplier like PRS Comms. You don't want to buy the wrong thing....

If you want an honest opinion I'd bin the unit and replace it. I had an LCX-15 6 years ago and I got rid because I couldn't get charts for it then.

+1.

The original chart is probably still in it in the shed, but it's the Clyde sort of area and I'd imagine, no use to you. The cards pre-date Navionics Gold. I'ts just plain "Navionics"

Thanks for the honest replies folks, Any recommendations for a replacement of similar size. Budget probably in the £500 range [emoji102].
