Chart Navionics Gold 28XG compact flash

Looking at my chart yesterday and realised that the chart finished 2/3 rds of the way up Isle of Jura, this won't be any use when on the Easedale trip (after 2/3 rds of the way up Jura)

I checked for an update on the Navionics site but it tells me that I need to purchase a new chart.

Marine Electronic Services do them for €199 plus p&p anyone know of a cheaper alternative (besides following the other boats).

Thanks

PRSCOMMS are a bit cheaper at £179. I've used them a couple of times and they're on the ball.

Is your current card supposed to cover Northern Scotland or not?

Is it not the XL that covers the whole of the UK & Ireland

Ribliam - I should have mentioned that PRSCOMMS do upgrades too, FWIW.

I bought the same chart from Pixmarine XL9 chart - MSD-28XG, UK, Ireland & Holland, with tides & currents for £160 (it's listed at £169 but if you sign up for updates they give 5% off of that price).

EDI: Sorry, that's the link for the micro SD version but the CF is the same price.

Oh right - no I was asking about the original card type as I had a pair of XG28 UK & Ireland cards on my Raymarines, and one of them (The RC435i) had to be told which section of the chart you wanted to view as the data is actually a folder full of smaller files - each possibly being one of the older small charts? It had me stumped for a while...

All thanks for the replies todate, my plotter is a Raymarine C120 the label on my CF chart are

Code :24G UK S-W & Ireland Date June 2005

Given that the data on the card is the guts of 8 years old it's probably best to change it ..

Wilk
Is there something that you had to do on the plotter settings to get it to read the other files?.

With Navionics Gold you get updates free for a year from purchase. These seem to cover all the NM's etc .
Good service and facility

Well, there was - a lot of faffing around in "Select Chart" and praying. Sadly, you don't have the files in there anywhere - I found the limits chart - see below for the 24.

As you say, an update might be no harm now and you'll get the upgrades next year too - a decade long leap forward.
