Connect an Icom 411 to a Garmin 551s

Has anyone connected these two together. The Icom has 1 red wire out the back with an inner and an outer core. the inner is +, the outer -. I'm thinking the negative goes to common ground and the inner+ goes to either port 1 or 2 of the NMEA 0183 Tx out. So Port 1-Blue-Tx out, or Port 2-grey-Tx out.

Cheers

Welcome to RIBnet

Yes, that's it.

Make sure the port is set to NMEA 4800 (may be on Garmin format as default).

See endless previous posts about making/securing/waterproofing connections!
