Connecting a Chart Plotter to a Monitor

The Raymarine E-series and the Garmin 3, 4 and 5 series have a VGA out connector. Has anyone done this?

I'm interested in how good you found the display quality.

Mark and Suzie Groves who run Island Sea Safaris here in the Scillies have done that with their new boat and also have cameras feeding to the monitor.

Might be worth giving them a ring.
