Connector Corrosion... and Battery Storage

Anyone got any hot tips on cleaning this blue-ish corrosion off of the connectors of my transducer cable? Vodka on a cotton-bud? or something stronger?!
I keep the cable and connector in a ziplock bag when not in use but this doesn't seem to be good enough - I lost the little rubber cover that came with the cable...

Also, the Fishfinder is on the front bench seat of my little rib and I want to keep the battery suspended underneath in it's small Tupperware box... I know some people have a bag for this - any suggestions? I seem to remember someone using a picnic style cool-bag.

Many thanks

A tin of contact cleaner is an essential part of boat maintenance. Along with an old toothbrush.
Something like this

Give it a little pokey/twist with a needle file and stick some dielectric grease on it.

The ziplock bag might actually be trapping moisture inside and making this corrosion more likely.
