Cutting/joining transducer cables. How bad IS it, really?
The transducer on my Searider isn't working, my guess is that the plug is fubar where it joins the loom for the Garmin 178 thats on there.
I know I 'shouldn't' cut and solder transducer cables, but is it actually likely to succeed if I do? I'll need to cut the dead plug off and hardwire it into the loom.
Normally I'd just get a new transducer, but unlooming the transducer cable and getting the old one out (it's in the flooding hull void, and hard to reach) will be a really awkward job.
I've changed the garmin loom already as that was dead, and also have a spare loom as well.
