'Decent' marine (waterproof) speakers
The current speakers on my boat are total pants. The idea is to get an amp, and then some 'decent' speakers.
I guess im going to go for the 'waterproof' ones, eventhough the speakers are nearly always covered by a canopy.
The problem is that all the eBay ones are selling for about £20, and I presume theyre the same rubbish ones that are currently in my boat.
Does anyone know where I can get a decent, good quality (possibly 3 way) 6" waterproof speakers online?

Thanks for the link, was browsing marine-audio.com alright. Also browsing US sites, even after shipping they offer excellent value

You could try these:- Boss Wakeboard tower speakers on Ebay
I've been thinking about a set of these myself but decided that I don't want that much wiring in an A-frame.
The price of the 800w marine amp isn't too bad either.
The other option I'm looking at is getting a pair of these -I think the cases would look rather good flo-coated to colour match a boat.

Matt,
Thanks for the link. I'm seriously considering buying some of the wakeboard speakers. But the price had been putting me off till now. They seem a bargain though. So time to start thinking about it again.

I'm bringing back an old thread of mine, but it's time to finally buy some decent speakers.
I took one out, and measure the cut-out to be 4.45inches / 113mm
The current ones are 4Ohm, so looking for something similar... Anyone got anythign siilar fitted to their boat?

Check out the AV Marine site. Thats where I got my waterproof speakers for about £40. They still work after loads of water being thrown at them and nearly a years use.
No use at any sort of speed but good when your moored up or drifting.

I do like a bit of sound at speed, hence I added an amp (Should have mentioned that).
I don't mind spending around the £100 range. However the 6.5" seems to be the most popular size, the overall diameter of mine are 6" ... So going to have to stick with that

Nice price I think you'll agree
400w 2-way. Perfect for the boat. No point in buying a 1000w when you're not gonna need all that power. I would have bought a bigger one if funds allowed at the time.

So you find 400 Amp okay.
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...eria=car%20amp
I was thinking the above would be okay but its only 100 amp.
I'll look for a 400 amp one then.
They are pretty big. Where is yours fitted ?

400w is more than enough for me. I'm no expert though so please don't take that to heart!
Should have mentioned im running a sports cruiser (Member because I used to have a RIB) so I have her installed in the cabin at the end of the bed (closest to the electrics but plenty of air)
If I was installing in a RIB, i'd use STRONG STRONG glue to glue a timber frame to the inside, high as possible part of the console, and screw the amp onto that. In a RIB, the higher in a console the better IMHO, unless your console is totally waterproof
