Depth sounder 6m rib

Hi, I have a 6m Northcraft Rib with centre console. I need to fit it with a depth sounder - any advice on types or models would be appreciated.

Many thanks,
Amy

If you budget can stretch to it, I would recommend a chart plotter with a sounder built in.

Opinions are like **holes I know but I would disagree with this unless you are really short of space.
The best thing for useability are large screens, I would much rather have two screens of a reasonable size than one with everything on it and struggle to make everything out. the sounder screen size is probably less critical than plotter screen size.
Plus you have all you eggs in one expensive basket with an all in one, but you pays yer money and taks yer choice I suppose!

Garmin (FF90 / FF140), Navman (FF4430 / FF4431) and others do base level mono fishfinders with the option to show the depth in large numbers. Around £100 would see you fine, assuming you don't have any more sophisticated needs. Not much between them really - depends if you want water temp and/or speed as well.

Fellow Northcrafter

Hi Amy

I have just placed an order for a new Northcraft 6.3 RIB, which should be ready in a couple of months, so it's good to meet another 'Northcrafter' on here! I would be very interested to hear about your set up - engine and prop details etc., and what you think of the boat - handling, build quality and how it's standing up to wear and tear.

As for the depth sounder, if you just want to know what's under the boat then I agree with MikeCC - fit a fishfinder. This seems like a pretty good deal (but there are lots of other options on the Cactus site):
