I have just taking delivery of the above. I was wondering how do people carry them? ON lifejacket, attached to consul or grab bag?

Funnily enough Jambo just about to buy one of these or the near identical competitors (Odeo mk.3) to replace our flares. I've never fired any sort of distress flare since a Very pistol decades ago and was horified when conducting hand held flare tests late last year with some date expired ones what a hot fire-spitting thing they were. Decided definitely not for a SIB in case of tube damage.
And since sibbing I've spent £150 on replacing flares as they expire so the apparent high price of the LED units will balance out over time.

Hi my friend. My thoughts exactly didn't see the point in renewing the whole box of tricks. this takes up less room and I was thinking of attaching it to my LJ for ease of handling but was wondering what everyone else was doing as there is no method of attachment comes with the EDF1.
Cheers for now.

Hi Steve yes it is and most definitely the way forward less messy and more convenient. If your buying do a search online the cheapest at the moment is Catcus.
Cheers

Jambo what made you choose that one over the Odeo mk.3 or was it just the best deal?

Did you get any info on a price for the replacement battery?
Regarding where you mount it I think it has to be kept out of line of sight... i.e. on a pole or held aloft.

Hi David. No I didn't as I thought I would cross that bridge when I need to. Take your point re position when active but I was looking for some ideas when not in use.

Perhaps they need a selfie stick to preserve the eyesight.
I just wondered about the battery as I'd perhaps like to carry a spare. I'm going to message the supplier.
BTW Billy did you notice in another thread I've been out voted by the family and we head south for the main summer break for the first time in decades? Really going to miss that cafe!

Ocean Signal have replied very promptly. The replacement battery is £19-95 +vat with suppliers able to discount if they wish.
I guess that's about where I expected as some unique batteries cost as much as 50% of the original unit cost.
I found this Youtube of the EDF1 showing how the battery is removed...
