Excellent customer service from Garmin.

The sd card lid on my 7 year old GPS had broke off so I rang Garmin to see about getting it fixed and I was given a repair number and told to send it off also that it would be free of charge , I thought that can't be bad at all . I didn't hear anything for a good week so I sent an email to see if they had received it and I got a reply back saying that they hadn't and have I got proof of postage so I emailed a pic of my receipt.

They apologised and said that it must have got lost somewhere in the repairs department..... but would I except an upgraded model. I didn't say no [emoji12]

I waited a week for it to arrive and nothing [emoji17] so I sent an email to them and was told that it hadn't been dispatched due to lack of communication and apologised profusely.

Anyway this morning a lovely reconditioned unit ( which looks like new ) arrived this morning and I was also given a code for 50% discount on any map upgrades. All this for free. [emoji1]

Thank you Garmin

I tried to post a couple of pics but it keeps saying upload failed for some reason. I will try again later.

I bought 2 years ago a new 1022xsv for my RIB to replace a smaller 7 inch plotter .
First trip at the worse place between the Channel Islands black screen .
For the rest of the trip the plotter was dead .
I was lucky enough to travel in a group to avoid damage to the boat.
Garmin replaced the plotter with a new one .
Next time in May in Easdale the plotter lost memory and the screen was frozen .
A restart made it work again but fuel data were still lost .
Dealer recommended me to install the latest firmware .
Done that .
After the plotter did not recognise the through Hull sensor anymore ..
Plotter went again back to Garmin .
Since 4 weeks no reply yet ..

Always better to communicate by email then it's recorded. This is the second time I have dealt with Garmin and the outcome has always been more than positive. [emoji106]

I had the same problem going the phone route. But my emails were answered within the hour.
