The off-the-shelf 550s comes with full UK mapping...whilst I've not looked at wrecks in detail - as I don't dive - I've noticed them on there and, in particular, just how many there are scattered around For the majority of wrecks AFAIK it's simply a location that's marked ...there's no details of what it is and why

I'm thinking of buying the 550 or newer 555 Garmin unit. Does anyone have any comments good or bad?

The only difference of the 555 over the 550 is the screen resolution...the 555 has a higher resolution. Check the Garmin site for the detail. All else is the same.

I have the 550 and have no problems with either the screen resolution or the performance of the unit. I saw both side by side at the Southampton Boat Show last year and decided the extra cost of the 555 wasn't worth it.

Thanks to all. I went for the Standard Horizon CP300i as I had the room for a bigger unit. Nice 7" screen and a good service from MES Ltd
