you mean 750.000 pounds ??? and you refurbished it spending 350.000 pounds??. No wonder you do things for free..... the 350.000 quid would buy you 5 chateaux in Belgium + all the retainers. Must be a hell of a life in the Channel Islands. I would prefer to give 350.000 quid to the poor -- at least I will get a place in heaven......

Unfortunately the Channel Islands are bl**dy expensive!

And yes you were right with the 750k sterling!!

That buys you a 4/5 bedroom house in St Peter Port with one parking space, small south facing garden (I say small but it's approx 10mx14m), and sea views overlooking the russell and the harbour castle(worth every penny to wake up and sea three other Islands every morning).

So whilst Guernsey is a good life......it is very expensive and very hard to get a housing license (a whole other kettle of fish!). However for a flat rate of 20p in the pound income tax, no capital gains tax, we still have the MIRAS equivelant, petrol is just over 40p a litre, fags are approx £20 for 200 and going up!, beer is around the £2 a pint mark. Oh and no VAT!

Lets just say it has it's upsides!

Mind you I'm not the one sporting a 9m rib with twin 200's now am I, so I assume Belgium has it's perks with the exception of Poirot and chocolate!

P.S. Heaven is overated (who me?......yes; down please!)

That 9m rib is pure joy. At my age its not sex and money thats interesting - just pure speed.Did 240 kph in my Audi A6 before I sold it last week- ( 0200 in the morning and a deserted motorway)- it was exhilerating to see the
speedo go up and up and not stay stuck at 120.
As regards the Channel Islands - I suppose its all relative. - no taxes but
very expensive to live... I would like an island to myself with ADSL and 7 women......

No Louise, not exactly what I was thinking:

1. Cleaning
2. Ironing
3. Cooking
4. Needlework
5. general help
6. secretarial
7 .........................( use your imagination)
