have no direct experience of the new touch screens, but the reviews seem very favourable. I have the 4212 with the g2 vision charts as with others on the forum, and i think its a great bit of kit, few buttons with clear menus, making easier and quicker navigation.so if the touch screen is half as good then it will be a great bit of kit.IMHO.

Had a go with one on a friends boat really clever menus and the screen is bright and clear.

However, if you're getting a verado then the smartcraft with the navman/northstar would be a good selling point for me

When do you expect delivery now?

I have installed a few for customers and they seem impressed with the clarity and the operation. My only comment would be to keep the screen clean with fresh water and a very soft cloth and don't be tempted to wipe with an old rag or kitchen towel!

I'm looking at a garmin 5012 mainly because of the size of screen compared to the room it takes on the dash. My only concern is what the touch screen is like to use underway?

I love the garmin stuff and this new touch screen looks great
but i disused it with people that have them fitted to Fairlines at 40 ft plus and they say that its a great bit of kit but not for ribs as it dose not lend it self to been taped about at 35kts in a lumpey sea while you are jumping about
bad enough trying to press buttoms at speed.
i have not tried one in a rib so its only what i have been told, but it dose seam logical.
