garmin units

Hi how do you wire a garmin 178c into a garmin 250c and what are the benifits i have both units fitted to my boat and was told thay should be wired together ? Why when both units work as thay are thanks Alain

When I first fitted out my rib, I had a Garmin 76cs Handheld mounted on the console which has a relatively small screen along with a 250c fishfinder. The reason for me linking the two was so I could display the numbers bigger on the 250c screen leaving more of the chart visible on the small screen of my 76cs.

As the 178c has a larger screen, I'm not sure I can see the benefit for you unless you want the option of displaying GPS data on the fishfinder screen like I did.

Hi Simon thanks for your reply the two units (178c & 250c) where fitted at seahog boats i bought the boat b/new and water ready so ive just left things as thay are both work fine its just a chap that said id be better off with them both linked together dident say why so i thought id ask tightlines Alain
