Kind of. It looks a heck of a lot like a 'ripped off' Garmin 238 to me.

If you look closely you can see it IS a picture of a Garmin. The Garmin logo is still on the card cover on the bottom Right hand side.

Remember most products are made in China now. It USED to be that people like Sony etc would design a product and just get someone in China to build it. These days the Chinese factories actually invent the product - then find someone like sony or Garmin to market it.

HTC are a classic example of this with their phones and palm computers etc.

The main thing I would be wary of is that all the menus etc are prob in Chinese!!!

I don't mind branded gear that's made in China, but i'll draw the line at Chinese 'copy' guff. They can keep the 'Oi Yu' 238.

That'll be Tawan, RoC then

Anyway, the unit comes with elaborate charts of the China coast - what more could you want! You can bet it's never been anywhere near Nottingham though.

That was a typo - the RoC was the important bit (ie Republic of China so could reasonably be regarded as 'Chinese'.)

No problem per se with Chinese or Taiwanese production - like anywhere it's down to individual factories.
