GPS Advice

Hi
Trying to sort a handheld GPS for inshore fishing to be able to log positions etc.
Garmin devices seem to fit the bill with their Bluechart software, but which unit currently I have a Oregon 300 and a Map78(which I think is a current model) in the frame.
Any advice on either unit gratefully received.
Thankyou
Lincol

+1 for Garmin handhelds.

Can't help much with those 2, but I have two of the 78's predecessors & find them both easy & intuitive to use.

One thing I can say having tried to use a GPS-V (not too different screen size to the old 78 - the 7x series now come with bigger screens so this comment may now be irrelevant) in map mode it's almost impossible to read on the move.

Whichever you choose, if you need it to get to a fishing spot in anything other than a straight line, I would recommend plotting a bunch of waypoints & routing them so you can glance at the big arrow on screen - much easier than peering at a postage stamp sized map in a bouncing boat!
