Gps Clone ?

Hi
As I now have some money to spend I have been checking out gps units and comparing prices .Found an Eagle intellimap 640 c but it looks identical to the Lawrence 3500c, are there such things as clone gps units or are they just badged under another trading name by the manufacturer, also are eagle products supported by a dealer in the uk

Thanks

Eagle ar the budget version of Lowrance and distributed in UK by Silva.
We have Lowrance kit on the training boats Brilliant gear, also one os the 3500c superb kit. You can update platform software from the 'net and also download simulators from Lowrance web site, great for learning you way around the unit.

Brian

Have you seen the 3600c with built in antenna??

We have a dealer-fitted Lowrance LMS-332C. We are now on our *3rd* unit, as the first two malfunctioned in exactly the same way.

Approach with caution. I am sure one can buy better with Garmin, Raymarine etc

Eagle and Lowrance are, essentially, the same company. Eagle is the budget version.

Andy;

What kind of failure did you have on your prior 2 332's?

After we had them for a few months, they both started to switch themselves on when unattended. They then proceed to beep maniacally and the screen went light/dark over and over.

Interesting. Power switch having moisture problems?

That's a mode of failure I've heard some whispers about, but that's about it. At least it was handled under warranty.

My 332 is a year and a half in, and has yet to do anything wrong. Crossing my fingers.
