GPS question
Can anyone tell me if blue chart would work in a Garmin streetpilot 2610 .
I know that depth / fish finder info wouldn't work but with another card loaded with the marine maps would it do the same as a dedicated marine unit .
Cheers

Parkesy - I remember him!
Do you need a GPS to get out from where you've been hiding?

Wouldn't see why not. I dooubt the unit cares what info is on the map, it just displays what's there.
I won't say it does, either, though.
Perhaps a call to Garmin?

bloody celts
I might have expected some decent replies from fellow Celts but it seems we cant even get the wrecks beached properly these days .
the 2610 with all the mounting kit etc for the bike is at a really good price ,it would also fit on the rib , can't justify one for each at present ,without upsetting the soup dragon .

Here's an attempt at a sensible answer. I don't know much about the Streetpilot Ian but, is it weather tight enough to cope with a wave being dolloped on it? How is the Soup Dragon?

I have an 276c street pilot and that works with a blue chart, all I did was put in the blue chart cartridge for our area, and go to marine mode and it works, I use it as a stand alone back up, to my fixed GPS.

Gps
Finally got through to GPS Warehouse and the answer was no the 2610 won't display marine charts .
276 c is an option with garmin but not the best for mounting on a motorbike , also Quest works but screen seems too small to me in the pics .
magellan have a new model called the crossover which does traffic off road and marine . Thier marine software is about £180 but unlock codes and choosing a single area doesn't seem to be mentioned in the description , unlike the garmin units . So will have to have a look at that .

garmin
£800 becomes nearly a grand by the time you add the charts , and its unlikely its any good on a bike .
seems to me looking at and comparing magellan and garmin , that garmin is nearly twice the price for what I want ,dunno why maybe its much better .
Problem is finding a dealer where you can see and compare different units .
