Gpsmap 178

Well i though i had it sorted at the show today with my mind made up on Garmin 152 GPS and 250 Fish finder.

Now im thinging what about the GPSMAP 178. just the monochrome one with the solent chart to go with it.?? does sounder as well as chart plotter.

Fairly limited with space on the console of Zippy so one unit would be better in that respect but has anyone got / used any of these products?

At least im set with the DSC radio now tho!

Thanks in advance
Zippy.

Yup, I've got the Colour version and I love it. The only problem with it is the screen is a little on the small side but apart from that works like a dream and plugs directly into the Icom 421 and does all sorts of DSC funky stuff through the 178 like call logging and stuff.

There's a couple of other people on here who have the same one also but I think they are all colour as well. To be honest the colour screen makes a huge difference and worth the extra pennies. However by the time you've done the 178c, mapsource and all the other connecty bits the price does get a bit steep.

I assume the 178 and 178 C are identical apart from the colour screen.

I would like to go for the colour but my credit card wont stretch that far at the moment and i was initially only going to go for the 152 and a separate fish finder.

cant see too many people selling the 178 in the uk tho,

Yup they are identical apart from the screen.

If you don't find a UK supplier then try:

https://www.aspidshop.com/export/sto...th=3_7&sort=3a

They ship to the UK and maybe cheaper.
