Help - Garmin 3005c!!

Well bugger it anyway. I went to local chandlers to buy a data card for my Garmin 3005c and they tell me it's the BlueChart g2 that I'll be needing. Fine, says I - hand over the hard-earned dosh and told to come back in 10 days ... that was yesterday. Simple to use, they tell me, just 'plug and play'.

Hop into the boat this evening, stick in the card, power her up, opening screen politely asks me to hang on for a mo' as it's reading the card. Stays at 0% for about 15 seconds and then goes straight into the old bog standard mapping. Feck! Retried a few times but same result

Am I doing something wrong?

When did you buy your 3005C? Have a look and see what software version your running - there was an update that added support for g2 charts.

Or it could just be a dodgy datacard.

GPS came with the boat, so I'm guessing it's 2/3 years old. Any idea how you update a GPS that's fixed to the boat?

You need a blank data card and a card read/writer that fits to a pc. Download the update to the card then insert into the GPS, its just plug and play (hopefully).

Might be worth speaking to the nearest dealer to see if he can make up an update card for you to borrow.

turn on your gps, check the version your running, look at garmin website for the new version, down load this on to a new card (beg or borrow) or ask a dealer to do this for you. Or call garmin im sure they will help you out.

Give garmin a call and they will send you the update card.
Good luck
