Help Identifying Power outlet on Outboard

Ok, so my little Tomos has a power outlet. the manual says 6v, 17w but im struggling to identify the socket I need to obtain to use it.
Its smaller in diameter than a standard Car Cigarette Socket and its not a DIN type (That was fitted to the older Ailsa Craig Motors)

I dont suppose anyone knows off the top of their head what it could be ?

If you post a photo someone might recognise it. Presumably 6V/17W is a lighting circuit only so unregulated/rectified? What were you hoping to use the power for?

Ok, so here is the socket, with a variety of plugs that are either too big, or too small

Second picture is a standard 12v socket nect to the engine power outlet ...

I'd be popping a voltmeter on that. If it IS providing power (it's an old engine, quite possible it's not!), I'd whip the cover off and replace the connector with a nice IP67 or 68 connector from RS, Farnell etc.

But I fear you may be disappointed with how small the output power is - I think in this day & age I'd just go with portable LED lights and battery pack for phone charging.

If we assume that it puts out 6V and 17W, then my guess is (1) its "AC" not DC so you need a rectifier like you say. (2) the voltage will vary hudely with revs - so you need a regulator. (3) it won't have enough power to charge a 12V battery, so you'll need to do something a bit "non-standard". (4) 17W isn't a lot of "juice" - you can get a USB powerbank from a reputable brand for about £20 that will put that sort of power out.

Unless you are planning some sort of multi-day trips I think you'll achieve more for less money just by getting a couple of powerbanks, a dry box and charging them ashore / in the car etc. If you really want the challenge of wiring it - then replace it with a modern connector (after first checking that it works!).
