yeah its taken long enough to catch up to standard horizon. i think i may still go with sh when i change my radio as they tell me that their radios continue to dual watch even after the mic is keyed - something i find really irritating with the icom - you talk to your mate on the radio and it stops you monitoring ch16. icom tell me that it makes perfect sense! its worth noting that i am an icom fan and that is really the only thing i dont like.

Mmmm...
So you are dual watching 8 and 16. You call your mate on 8, while at the same time there is a mayday on 16. So how would the SH handle that? You are transmitting so your speakers are disabled..? Or do you mean as soon as you release the PTT an ICOM stays on CH8 rather than reverting to Dual Watch (pretty sure my ICOM h/h does that can check for you) where it would pick up the tail end of the mayday?

yeah i was meaning that once the ptt is released it would stay on ch8 and knock off the DW. icom say this is deliberate as you are obviously engaged in a conversation so surely no longer nead to watch 16. i find it a right PITA

£500! I get that its NMEA 2000 but what does it actually do that the SH 2100 doesn't do? For half that price? Its only a receiver isn't it? So what have I missed...

It has the ability to replay the last voice message (it is recording constantly).
This is getting into the realms of pro kit eg £1000 sailor
I haven't physically seen one myself.
No uk stock expected for several months.
