Hi just wondering I know these are extremely old but I was just looking at getting it working for a backup as it's in mint condition but it doesn't seem to pick up satellites many thanks

The Satellite Almanac on this unit is out of date so it will not acquire satellite lock. Read this: Icom 360 ML GPS*/ 65391

if its been working relatively recently its not the firmware. But there is a soldered on battery that some people say is an issue.

If its been stuck for years (like since 2004) its the firmware.

A GPS unit would normally get its time from the satellites...

No idea what the batteries are - but typically this sort of thing is a Lithium button battery or maybe something a bit more unusual like a 1/2AA. I'd wait for Icom's response and if they say they can't do anything for you I'd say you have nothing lost to open it up and see what's inside. Post a pic with a ruler in it for size and any markings and someone on 'ere is bound to know...
