Icom m323 flush mounting question

Quick question if I may

Just got round to mounting my new icom m323 vhf and I have cut out the hole to flush mount it as per icom's instructions and template.

But when I insert the radio into the console it does not sit flush and sits proud of the surface.
I would of thought it should be designed so the silicone rand seals the radio

Am I missing something or is this how they expect us to have it as I cannot see how I could accurately cut into the surface to let the outer bit sink in flush.

Photos of it sitting in console.

The rubber is there to seal between the front half and back half of the case, not between the case and the boat. Use some sealant....pref not Sikaflex as otherwise it'll be tough to remove the future.

Ohh ok cool thanks for that

I might try and make a some sort of filler to go between the console and rubber as my hole cutting is not perfect and will just let water in.

And I'm massively OCD so sealant or leaving as is will bug me too much lol

Did it come with a rubber/foam gasket to go between it and the console? Some do some don't.

I'd get some black sealant and mask off round the radio in the console and around the grey seal and put a fillet of sealant all the way round. As said don't use sikaflex or you'll never get it out again if it's the adhesive version. Think they do a sealant version as well without as much adhesive in.
