It is unlikely to change as I mentioned this is the first time I have been asked for this in at least 4 years.
Yep, but sales of Sikaflex have gone up.

Most of us a are practical sorts, so we just mutter a few curses and find an alternative. I bet if there was a gasket Icoms rep would go even higher.
Is there anyone who has not made up a gasket, or glued the set in?

I am sure you are right.

Am I right in thinking it is only our friends at Navman that offer this at the mo?
Or I have missed that others do to?

Regards

"supposed"!!!!!!

I understand where your coming from.
This is what happened with 3 year warranty.

If it were down to me I would do it.
It is not so I can only pass the comments up the line and I will.

My only concern here, and it will be the same from the General Manager here, would be that if we were to supply it and the user then fails to fit it correctly then tries to sue because his consol floods.
It is very easy to prove if someone one is trying to "swing the lead" when it comes to radio warranrty, it would not be so easy here.

Thank you for the feedback.

Regards

Nick

I know you are not.
But we have to consider these things.
Its a sad fact of life these days.

All those things you used to do as a kid that are now banned!

Does it have to specify "waterproof" - could it not just be a "seating"?

It’s easy put a caveat on it saying that it should only be fitted by a professional and even then there is no guarantee of it being waterproof
This issue interests me because I don’t understand why a company would risk upsetting a customer by not adding a 2p seal. Sure you are working in a competitive market and every penny counts but put a value on someone at the yacht club bar saying ‘…the kit had everything even a waterproof seal…’ it’s how good reputations are made
Not getting at you Jon just I don’t understand Des

Good on you Jon - just a thought "hey I have an amazing Icom and guess what, it came with a waterproof gasket unlike most others - what will they think of next!"
