Icom M601 - Speaker
Can anyone tell where I can get a speaker for my new M601 so that I may use the fog horn/loud hailer functions.

Speaker
Dont know if you got one or not, but you need the 22w hailer/intercom available from SMG.We have that one and it works a treat for hailing and the auto horn function.

We got one at the show from Mr Boat for our 601. Haven't fitted it yet as the boat isn't finished yet.
the hailer is quite large with a bit of mass. Interesting to see how long it lasts off tyhe A frame held on with cable ties

I can get them if you can't get any anywhere else.
Watch out though, the hailer horn system is also a listening device which you cannot turn off!!! so once you select the mode you can end up with hurrendous feed back so watch where you put the horn.

As Dave said it is a 2 way hailer system.
Speaker location is important not because its 2 way but because its a PA.
A frames tend to cause drama's.
Mainly as the speaker is behind the user of the mic.
Needs to be in front
Steve is always helpful

D S Developments do a range of waterproof speakers designed to be flush mounted.
They do them in a full range of colours to match your consol.
You can then mount them in front of you.
Hope that helps

David, I'd be interested in seeing how you get on, as I want one for my M601!!
Is there a website for DS Development?

I will telephone them tomorrow. I think that their speakers are really aux speakers for normal VHF's and may not have enough ummmpppphhh for a PA system but if they are then great.
