I (think) it means if you have a charting application on your computer at home, you can connect to the internet and a server (somewhere) will feed you with the positions of ships in a particular area. It save you having to have a separate AIS engine and aerial.

I have the application but I don't have the position feed.

Andy,

You should probably take a look at www.shipploter.com

Lots of people there doing interesting things with AIS and serviers / sharing.

Helpful forum as well, once you get past the Yahoo registration nonsense.

What are you trying to achieve?

Mike

I came across this site a while ago - just can't use it for more than 10 seconds - bright yellow background really hurts my eyes - WHY do they do it???
