Yes i think its worth it, anything that can help in an emergency is worth it, useful in fog or as a means of finding your mates or interesting marine traffic that may be about. I have fitted a switch on mine so i can turn off the transmit position function when its clear wearher and im in poole harbour for example just so that i dont add to the clutter on other peoples plotter screens showing ais data.
