Losing GPS signal on Garmin GPSMap4008

Hi, we recently bought a Ribeye 785s and have taken her out a few times and are worried that we keep losing GPS signal in the Solent. The GPS signal has only just started dropping and we were wondering if this could be a short in the wiring or something else?
We have also noticed that the speedometer also stops registering (though there is power but not a speed reading) frequently so wonder whether this is also suggests a wiring short?
We are based in Hamble Point and wondering if anybody can suggest a marine engineer to have a look at it?
Thanks for your help.

In case you didnt get one with your boat here is a link to the manual for the 4008.
https://static.garmin.com/pumac/GPSM...ries_OM_EN.pdf

The speed measurement is i'm sure taken by referencing the satellites so if you are loosing them then you will drop the speed reading too.

The manual will show how to check the GPS and its log.

That kit has an external antenna - likely an issue there - either the connection or the unit itself. Possibly signal blocking, depending on it's location (if you dumped a bag on it).

Thank you Will. I will check the antenna (it is on the a frame) again and also it’s connections. Thanks again for the suggestion.
