Lowrance Elite 4 Mapping problem

Evening all,

I bought an Elite 4 this week from Force4 as per the link here.

Lowrance Elite-4 Chartplotter and Fishfinder with FREE Sun Cover - Only £159.95 - Force 4 Chandlery

When I turned it on, the on screen map is of the US, not UK. After a short while my current coordinates appeared, but the basemap was still US.

I checked the box and there is a small sticker stating "North/South America."

Have I been sold a wrong region unit? I haven't contacted Force4 yet but will try then tomorrow, I just warned to check if I was missing something simple?

Bought the exact unit from the same supplier a few weeks back. If you want uk maps you will have to buy the area your after on micro sd card (Navionics) bought my area (North wales) from a supplier in valencia for £112 delivered, you can get the whole of the uk for around £170 ish. With no card in the unit it will show your gps co-ordinates but stay on the us area with a ? Symbol if I remember correctly.

Thanks, I knew that the mapping wouldn't be amazing but I did expect that the basemap would cover the UK. A lot of my boating is on inland rivers and lakes so I need to find out if the navionics would cover these before I buy.

I've got an Elite 5 which I bought from America, I had to go into the menu section and select Navionics, this then showed the basic uk costal outline.
