Lowrance LCX27c - can't load maps

Hi - I have purchased a second hand but apparently very good, replacement LCX27c. It appears to work perfectly but when I put the two SD cards with my southern U.K. Maps into the little tray they don't display/load the data on the screen and I get the standard non map display. I've been through all the menu options and also read some on line instructions but am I missing something ? Anyone else got the same model that could help me ?

Have you checked for a firmware update for the unit?

Hi Dave - no not done that. I have been able to find my files in a folder, hit transfer and it did that transferring files 0-100percent thing and I thought I'd cracked it....but no. Will I need to remove the unit or can I add firmware via SD card ?

Firmware is done via SD card. DON'T copy the cards[emoji15] they won't work (assuming they're Navionics) only the original cards will work & you risk damaging the card if you try & copy them.

I think on that unit you have to go into the menu and select the map data you require, I don't think it auto selects

JimRib - you are correct. It's defaulted to "Lowrance" and you need to select from a drop down menu of available maps. Not difficult when you finally discover it and a couple of other menu choices had led me in the wrong direction. Read the instructions SLOWLY. Thanks to both of you for responding on this, all sorted out now which is pleasing.
