Merc optimax link to lowrance hds

Hi the rev counter LCD display has gone faulty on my 06 150 opti smartcraft gauge, question is can the engine link to the lowrance Hds 8 ? Has any one done it and what will I need ?

I think any outputs on your motor are NMEA0183, which means it'll probably be cheaper and easier to change the smartcraft gauge.
