Navionics Files?

Please can someone tell me what the files on my new card are? I have put it into my Lowrance, and one of them 'works' (ie produces high resolution map of solent). But there are two others which seem to do do nothing. Are they of different areas or something else?

They are - according to the Lowrance:

5G391X1.nv2
5G392x1.nv2 I think this is the one which 'works'
5G398x1.nv2

I purchased the 25G MMC Navionics Gold chart.

Thanks

Bruce

Can I tell which areas? And what happens when I cross into the other areas? Do I need to tell the plotter to focus on a different file?

XL3 Cartridges

You will need to go into the Lowrance menu and select Data and you should find a drop down menu which will list the other chart areas available on that cartridge simply select the area you wish to use and away you go!

Navionics 25G

Bruce I have the same in my Raychart 435i and it covers the area from Land's End , both sides of the English Channel and right up along the Belgium , Dutch and German coast and passed the Kiel Canal

Good charts we used it on our trip to the Baltic in conjuction with 15G and 16G

How do I know which file corresponds to which area - by trial and error?

Thanks

Bruce, you hv to be in the area for this to be shown on the screen. However nothing stopping you from placing waypoints and making a route

Hi Bruce

391 - 392 - 398 Correspond to XL size Chart areas - see here :

http://www.navionics.com/Charts.asp?...&ChartSizeID=2

5G392x1.nv2 corresponds to XL Chart "NE392XL" which covers Lymington so that is the one that appears to work. If you wanted to navigate the Thames Estuary you would have to select 5G391X1.nv2

HTH

Cheers

Phil

Thanks, Phil. I knew someone here would be able to tell me what was going on. I wonder why I don't get user friendly titles to the maps when I go to Map Select in my Lowrance?
