Navman 6600 frozen

Morning.

Took the boat out yesterday but when we switched the plotter on it froze!

Turned on and the usual screen came up where you have to press enter to continue and non of the buttons would work! Not even the power button. Tried by switching the Battery master switch off a few times but no joy.

Any ideas??? Cant even get in the plotter to do a master reset!!

Thanks

This happened to mine, remove it and store it indoors for a day or so. Will probably be ok after that....

its flush mounted so that will be a bit of a pain but worth a try!

easier than replacing it for sure!

last time we were out it got a bit of a soaking but washed it down with fresh water so guessing its not all that waterproof anymore!

I have the same problems with mine since more than a year. First time it happened during my summer holidays in Croatia. Cold was definetely not the problem.

At the beginning the display started to flicker. Than the plotter was dark. Nothing worked to restart it. After some hours I tried it again and everything worked fine again. Next day the same....and so on....

A friend of mine had the advice to change the c-map charts because he has the same problems. I tried others...nothing...

Until today I have no idea what is he reason.

ours did that as did its dodgy replacement they sent me, when it got wet, or even a bit damp-seems the waterproof screen may not be married to a similarly waterproof keypad. Got so fed up with the *"^* after sales service I binned it! Never ever again!

loadsa water / damp issues in the past - search on the forum for a few years back

Was kinda hoping this wouldnt be the case although suspect as much, last time we were out it did get a good soaking followed by a rinse with fresh water so sounds like it may be screwed. e mailed northstar but dont expect much in the was of a reply!

guess the search for a replacement starts now!

Shame cos they are a nicely compact unit
things may be better now as they went thru a take over and the particular muppets in aftersales may have gone or been made to get their act together Fingers crossed eh
