Navman 7100 replacement Mic

Hi

Whilst checking over my Dive clubs gear this weekend ahead of weeks diving next week I discovered that the transmit button on the hand mic of our Navman 7100 has got salt water in and corroded the switch such that it was permanently transmitting. I have taken the mic apart to see if it possible to replace the switch and whilst I think it is possible the soldering required is far beyond my skills.

All of this has lead to me to the conclusion that the best way to fix it is to replace the whole hand mic but because it is 'hard wired' I am struggling to find anywhere that sells them. I have the number of Plastimo (parent company of Navman) and will be ringing them tomorrow morning but was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions.

The problem with just replacing the switch is it soldered directly onto the PCB and I don't think I can remove it and solder a new switch on without breaking it entirely.

Have you got an electronics department where you study? if so give it to one of the soldering iron drivers contained therein. It's broken anyway what have you got to lose?
