Navman that restarts. On its own and looses chart detail ...

At the weekend my Navman Trackfish learnt a new trick. It restarts itself. This happens alot after starting the engine, but becomes more intermitent after 30 mins of whizzing around the Solent, when problem 2 kicks in.
Problem 2 - If you are bouncing around abit the CMap chart details dissapear from the screen and you are left with the basic chart. ie not alot. You then have to turn off the Navman, take the chart out, put it back and restart. If you are lucky it works. Until the next bit of bouncing.
So, any fixes?
Anyone else have a chart plotter that turns itself off?
Anyone else have the same problems with the card connection?

Sounds like a poor power connection. It could cause the cutting out during the bouncing. The engine startup problem would be due to a voltage drop between the battery and the GPS; when starting the engine your voltage is going to drop several volts, which, coupled with the drop, puts the power the unit sees below operational threshhold.

I've had problems with the SD connector on a Lowrance unit; usually due to corrosion on the pins. Try cleaning the contacts on the card with a pencil eraser, and the contacts in the unit with some electronic contact cleaner. Might help, might not.

Best I can do.
