New Icom DSC

I have just received a Press Release from Icom about their new VHF/DSC. I think (its down in the office) it's called the IC M421. Basically looks like a small IC-M601. Nearly all the same fuctions etc. but about 1/2 the price.
Is this what the majority of RIB owners have been waiting for??? When I get back tonight I will try and put the full spec up here

Dave and all

Its a tad bigger than the M401.
Is a basic DSC Vhf only, no bells and whistles.
Bit like a RD68 or the basic Navman set etc.

Will go on sale at the Southampton Boat Show.
List is £246.77 +vat
Street should settle at around £250-£260

Is fully waterproof and come with the normal £year warranty thingy.

Regards

Jon

Jon

Apart from the aforementioned slightly larger size therefore the need to enlarge the hole in my console can I simply disconnect the antenna lead from the 401 and plug it into this new model ?

What about the power leads ?

Jon, is the following model good for use in this country? The ebay sellers tell me it is, but as it's ebay, I thought I'd check:

I-COM M302

They are lying if they told you that!
Sorry no other way to put it and you can quote me on that.
This company seemed to be Full of S..T!
They will say anything to sell there products.
They have no formal UK address or contact number.
If they were legit they would have!!!
We have tried and failed to make contact with them.

The M302 is a US only radio the DSC is Class SC101 and not the required Class D.

Regards

Jon

Once you have enlarged the hole it is just plug and play (other than a GPS conection.
Same DC (power conections as the M401)
